TAKE FIVE Connections: Secret Word Instructions

Each box on the screen represents a single letter. After you put the right letter in each box,

the vertical column of light blue boxes will spell a Secret Word (or phrase),
each horizontal row will spell a word or phrase that is related to this Secret Word.

To help you discover the right letter to put in each box, the Clues section of the page (below the puzzle) gives you clues to the horizontal words and phrases. You don’t have to scroll down to see the clue to the word you are working on: it will appear automatically in the box at the top of the screen below the , , and buttons.

Type one letter in each box in either UPPERCASE or lowercase. After you type a letter, the game will automatically move to the next box. You can move to any box at any time by clicking in it.

At any time during the game, you can click on the button to discover which letters you got right. (It takes about 30 seconds for the game to check your answers and redraw the screen.)

The letters that you got right will appear as normal text on the screen (they won’t be text boxes, so you can’t change them);
the letters that you got wrong or left blank will re-appear as blank boxes.

If you get stuck, at any time during the game, you can click on the button, and the game will give you a hint: at random, it will either

change a letter that you got wrong to the right letter
or
fill one of the blank boxes with the right letter.

At any time during the game, you can click on the button to clear your guesses and start the game over again. You may quit the game at any time by visiting another page.
